Derrick officially came home on Friday. He is now with us every day forever! No more running back and forth to Gresham......phew! (That was really wearing me out) Everything went better than expected. Derrick was happy to come and said goodbye to his foster family with no problems at all. I totally feel that there has been an extra endowment of the spirit. I truly thank all of you for your prayers and words of encouragement....they have been such an amazing blessing! Simple prayers are more powerful than we give credit to sometimes! We love you all!!!!
(Amanda and Nathan made the sign....cute isn't it!)

Yea for Derrick! Can't wait to get to know this little buddy!!
So Julie this is really personal but I remember you saying you were up to adopting more than one child. Do you plan on staying open in the process or focussing on the here and now? He so looks like he belongs in your family. I find it interesting that every kid I know who has been adopted looks like their family. I have heard so much buzz about everyone adoring Derrick. So excited to hear more. Em
I have to catch up on your blog. That is on my list of things to do when I get home.
Congratulations
Derreck was worth the wait.
Hooray!!! What a lucky little boy to be blessed with such a wonderful family! We're so happy for you all. (I missed seeing Toby in your last family picture.)
After I saw your sign, I imagined a similar sign on my garage door that says "Welcome OVER HERE, Derrick" for when we have you over! Wouldn't he feel welcome then at our house too? This is so exciting!! He's gotta love having such a fun and nice older brother and sister too. He just became the coolest kid on the block!! (and most blessed).
Congrats! The sign is adorable. What talented kids! We are so happy for you and Derrick! So nice that he didn't have any initial inhibitions.
Lots of love,
Alyssa
YEAH!!! No more driving miles and miles!! And of course...now you have Derrick...for real! Congrats! We'll keep you all in our prayers as you continue to adjust. You'll have to post more about Derrick...he's in soccer right??
I am SOOOO excited to meet Derrick and see him with your cute family! It has been really excited to see you all through the process of deciding on adoption and now........your dream has come true! WOW! I can't wait to catch up with you!!
Julie, I was showing Sam the pictures of Derrick on your blog and telling him you have a new boy in your family. He said, "WOW! Really? That is a lucky boy! But... does this mean they cancelled Nathan?"
Does that crack you up or what?
I assured him that Nathan is still there, too. :)
He is so blessed to have a wonderful family! I love how fun his siblings are to him. He is the luckiest kid in the world!
How fun! We would love to hear your songs any day! I love that he loves being involved in what you all do. He looks adorable leading the music and how fun that Nathan plays the trumpet too!
