I am having such a great time with my kids! I LOVE it when they are home for the summer. I just feel....FREEEE!! I also LOVE to barbeque!!! Bob has been grilling up a storm on his new Father's day gift...we LOVE it!! I've been branching out and finding new marinade recipes for my chicken...so much better than store bought! I've also been using chicken tenders and LOVE them a ton better! Here's 3 of my favorites so far. I decided to do it as a post rather than on the sidebar because all three of them are DE'Lish!!!
1st one...from my Sister-in-law Jamie
(so...I seriously use this a TON...I'm totally hooked!)
Terriyaki Marinade
1/2 C soy sauce
1 T cooking oil
1 tsp. Ground dry mustard
1/8 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp ginger
1 T water
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 T brown sugar
Combine all ingredients. Allow meat to marinade 3-4 hours in fridge and then grill
The next 2 are from the picky palate blog
(They may seem like they'd be spicy but they're not bad....my spice-wimpy daughter & son loved them. In fact, Nate..who HATES just about everything....said that I should make these again...wow!! Of course, if you're scared...You can add less spice if you want)
Adobo Peach BBQ Chicken
18 chicken tenders
1 1/4 Cups Peach preserves
¼ Cup adobo sauce (canned chipotle sauce)
½ Cup BBQ sauce
¾ teaspoon salt
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
Place chicken tenders into a large zip lock bag. Pour in peach preserves, adobo sauce, BBQ sauce, salt and garlic. Marinate for at least 1 hour and then grill.
Firehouse BBQ Grilled Chicken
6 thawed boneless skinless chicken breasts
½ Cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
¾ Cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
4 Tablespoons melted butter
2 Tablespoons Worstershire sauce
Place all ingredients in a large ziplock bag and marinate for at least an hour then grill.
If anybody has any marinade recipes that are their all time favorites....Please let me know!! Loving Summertime!!!

Julie - i LOVE the changes to your blog. You are a great photographer! You should start a recipe blog! I'll join you on it! I love to hear about recipes!
Cute new blog look!! Very cheery and summery! Oh...and I think I'll have to try out those marinades, they sound delicious!! Hang in there with the adoption...good things come to those who wait, right? :)
Yes, I must add my "Cheers" to your blog make over! I love it - and the pic at the top is awesome! It's quite peachy... just like your chicken recipe. Yummy! We've got to try some of those!
I like your blog too. Can I just say I love marinade!!! One easy way I marinade is using a bottle of salad dressing. The most recent one was a citrus salad dressing and I got so many complements about how fresh the chicken tasted. Besides marinating in the citrus salad dressing I cooked thin orange slices over the chicken. It was really good. I think I am craving it now and it is not even 7 am.
Thanks Guys!! Finally I had a little time to mess around a bit. I WASTED so much time though!!! With a couple of years of a teenage girl under my belt, I am finding orange to be kind of a fun color :)hee-hee
Emily...thanks for the marinade tip. I need a nice citrus one!
Orange is my new favorite color so I'm diggin' your new blog! :) Thanks for passing the recipes along...I am in a rut and can really use something new!
Yum Yum. I will have to try the other ones. Jamie's recipe is so great. I also love the new blog look. It sounds like "patience" is going to be the theme through the adoption process. Easier said than done! At least it's summer and you have all the fun activities to keep you cheery. It's just sad that some kid is missing all the Tomlinson fun.
So, Jamie's teriyaki is our favorite marinade. I have a meal we love that doesn't require a grill, but it does seem like a summertime picnic type dinner. I put a roast in the crockpot with a bottle of Cattleman's Original BBQ sauce. Let it cook for at least 6 hours (the longer it cooks, the more tender it is). Remove the roast, shred it, and add it back to the sauce. Serve it on hamburger buns. Thanks for the ideas!
