Hey!! Look at what Nathan and I did!! Strawberries are in season up here and boy do we LOVE strawberry jam!! So, we bought 32 pounds of strawberries and went to town. Amanda was at girls camp and Bob was at work....so it was just me and Nate (and Toby the dog)
We even surprisingly survived with only one mishap...Incredible!! On our first round, Nate didn't screw the rings on tight and so when we put them in the water bath....weell....jam started oozing out. Not very good. Just an example that what goes into the brain of a kid is sometimes different than what you told him.....I forget about those seemingly "black hole" voids and that all words spoken are usually processed according to "their" interpretation. Nate claims that I just told him to screw the cap on....didn't mention to "screw it on TIGHT". I should have known to just do a quick check....but, it looked like he was doing it right (and besides....I'm pretty darn sure I said "screw it on tight"....hmmmm) All in all we had a blast! And, the jam is DE'LISHIOSO!!!!

That was one of my favorite parts of Oregon. Picking berries and making jam. So fun! Oh I think I need to post that new yummie recipe. Maybe I should go shopping so I actually have food in the house to cook? The whole cream I am sure is fat free.
You go girl!! That jam looks YUMMY!
Way to go! I actually feel that is something I could do if you did that well on your first try. Not this summer though- moving is going to kick us out of canning for sure. I am so impressed by you Julie.
Ok, Julie...I love your blog. You are INSPIRING!!! I actually spend too much time reading what is going on in your life. I actually feel like a little stocker which is great since I see you all so seldom! Oh yeah. I hate missing out on those berries...what a rip!

I LOVE HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY JAM! Next time you are in Utah - YOU BETTER BRING ME SOME! Ha! On our blog - notice the shirt Ricky is wearing - "Sarcasm just one of my many talents" FUNNY! We really hope things go well for you guys in adopting - thanks for the updates! We love to hear about it!
Looks so YUMMY! No offense Nate...but I bet Julie said "screw on tight". You probably didn't hear...or register that's what she meant. You're both right! Great pictures.
