To some it is given the gift of building....to others the gift of believing they should have paid someone else!

I love my husband. He has so many talents....I probably couldn't list them all. Yet, he would probably be the first to admit that building/carpentry did not make it into his top 560. And still, he loves me so much, he forces himself to do all my pet projects for a more efficient life. And, his very best is actually REALLY GOOD.....it's just that it takes FOREVER!!
Do you see that there are 2 shelves hanging from the top of our garage ceiling. Bob did those and they are fantastic. Here's the fun part of the story (well for me at least).....Shelf one (left side)...Bob started at 8:00AM in the morning to measure, purchase supplies, build shelf, figure out how to hang it.....until he finally had the shelf hung.....at 10:00PM. And that was only one shelf. The other shelf (shelf 2...right side) had to wait until the next available Saturday. Which, was this last Saturday. So, about 9:00am he got started....one would think since he already figured the dimensions and had all the supplies from his last shelf hanging day....this one shouldn't take that long....wrong!! He worked on it and worked on it (took a little Pink Panther 2 movie breatk) worked, worked, worked....and finally finished it at 8:00PM....another entire Saturday!!!! And all for 2 shelves that are only 6 feet long and 34 inches wide. Now, that is pure love!!!...or insanity!!!
One must also realize that I grew up with a daddy that built and repaired everything so I just thought all guys did that. It was a year or so into our marriage when Bob decided to repair a leaky faucet drip...and when he turned the water back on....it was a constant stream instead of a drip....that's when I started to realize...hmmmm....maybe we all have different gifts. I admire Bob so much for learning everything on his own and doing the best job he can! Thank you Bob "the builder" for my shelves!!

That is very sweet of him to take up two Saturdays to do that. It shows he did want to do the best he knew how. What a sweetheart! :)

Hey I LOVE those - and we could use some too! "BOB" the Builder might have to give "Rick" the Builder a few tips...I love that!

I've decided to keep my day job! It's great to be back working on spreadsheets vs. back-breaking, make-10-trips-to-Home-Depot, manual labor. ...BOB

I don't think it's just Bob, I think most home improvement projects take A LOT longer than you think they would or should. But. now you have your shelves. Yeah! What do you have in mind to live up there?

Okay, Sorry about that half naked picture of my child. One of the girls must have out that on. I'll have to wait until they get home from school to find out how to change that. So, check back soon, and we'll see what we get it changed to. Something where the people are wearing clothes instead of a towel.

I can't stop laughing because I totally relate! When we moved into our second home Jeff changed out a ceiling fan...it took him the entire day! He even got in the attic because he couldn't balance it properly. In the end, the fan is up...with a half inch hole around the base!

I will be sure to tease him next week.

Way to go Bob! They look wonderful and I'm sure will be well utilized. I'm wishing I had some. What do you charge? :)

We are lucky to change light bulbs and air conditioning filters. Shelves would be way out of our league. You gotta have peeps in the family with talent for the hard labor. Too bad Bob doesn't live closer.
