- The days are soooo short....doesn't it mean that I should be in bed when the suns not out?? UHH...HELLO....that would be from 5:00pm-8:30am!?!?
- My bed is SERIOUSLY comfortable. My muscles have been experiencing some sort of atrophy each time I lay in it and I find it extremely difficult to move them.
- With the weather cold, I notice that I SERIOUSLY LOVE my sweats and slippers....and I get grumpy when I have to take a shower, put on jeans and shoes in order to leave my house.
- I think I get grumpy when I put on my jeans because I realize they have SHRUNK!! It's because I am consantly hording food for my long winter's nap!!
- On the subject of hording food....I also notice that my new years resolution to exercise involves using my abs to roll over when the beeping sound starts at 5:30am, using my eyelid muscles to open my eyes and look at the blurry alarm clock. Then, I use my arm muscles to reach over and turn it right off. It's all very exhausting!!
- All the Holiday fun is over....I'm just left with the money shortage....so....sleeping is FREE right?!?!
- Yet....each day I manage to emerge from my cave...even though I am a bear and should be sleeping. And with that emerging comes the grumpy "who disturbed my slumber?" look that continues through the day....It's true....my kids and hubby can attest!
So, just in case you are truly worried about me, have no fear....I've managed to work through my hibernation addiction and we've actually been super busy! Here's a few pics of our latest adventures.
Here's another of Panda's parties that we had over at our house...it was for those who were not going to winter formal (either too young to date, boyfriend out of town, friends from other high-schools....you name it) I love all the reasons there are for get-togethers. We love the noise and fun that seem to follow these kids!! These are just great years (Although you couldn't PAY me to EVER go back to the high school years....no way....college maybe....high school....NEVER)
Yep...the picture tells it all....It's pinewood derby time! Derrick had so much fun making his car and painting it. He took3rd place!!! We were all in shock. We didn't know how to act because we have NEVER made it to this level before. We were usually out after the first round!!! It was a great night and Derrick was ALL smiles the entire night.
So this picture is just too classic!!! Look at the boys all excited along the track....the "tough-guy" dads lining the wall....the moms in the chairs trying to control the bored kids and stretching their necks to see a little of the car going down the track.
This is a picture of just how good of a copy-catter I am. I was asked to do treats for the pinewood derby. What to do...what to do....AHA!!!....email my friend Heather!!! And true to her creative form, she sent me pictures of what she did for hers using Zingers and Rolos. So, I figured that I could definitely manage those.....wha-la....Are these just adorable or what!! And the bonus point is that everyone thinks I'm the creative one - ha! (now hopefully they won't be reading my blog...ooops)
Derrick's playing basketball. Do you see any discrepancy with the height of the boys??? Ha-ha-ha!! The team is 3rd and 4th graders. I wonder which 2 boys are in 3rd grade? Dr. D's short as it is....but...this is just...well...not good! Derrick loves playing though and it's fun watching him.
Yes, this is a picture of my bathroom....even though I would love to have a story about my long warm baths.....nope....this has been what has taken over my mind and budget. The bottom of our shower has a little give to it....and....it finally cracked. We've had several people come and look at it and have concluded that we need to replace the shower. More and more people have come over to give us bids on the job to replace the shower and tub (because they're all one big cheapo plastic unit). I have been consumed with researching and working the money calculations. I will not bore anyone with the details....but I have been found screaming "not too pretty words" at the shower (an inanimate object) recently.

I love reading your posts. You have got to be one of my favorite writers. (I just called you a writer) :)
Good thing January is over. That was a long month!
Way to go Derrick. He is so flip'in (can I say that Amanda?) cute.
Julie
Can I say "I Love You"!!!!
I am glad I am not the only one who screams not nice thing's at not real things
Come to AZ, it's 82. I loved the treats for the pinewood derby. Luckily I will not have to go through cub scouts anymore. The benefit of only having one boy. Just so you know, I am known as Mama Bear. (Of course, Orson has been telling Megan stories of the 3bears and the 3 little pigs. So, the other day, she called me Mama Pig. I was so thrilled)
Julie - I want your life! I would love to hybernate...I feel for you on the bathroom...hopefully you are able to make the bathroom exactly how you would like it and on a good budget! The derby pics are so cute!
I can't stand winter either, this one in particular. I love the holidays it's just the short, very cold days that get to me. I love your pinewood derby treats. Even if you didn't come up with it, you did a great job executing it!
We were wondering if you fell off a cliff or something...but figured Dad would have called us... :)
Glad to see you've stayed busy during the post-holiday, depressing winter month of January. (I think we all FEEL similarly to some degree or another).
Tell Derrick congrats on his big win! And good luck with the bathroom. You might have to let me know just how much it costs you...Nick and I would LOVE to replace our "cheapo" shower/tub combo too....but first I'd like to know just how much I'd have to save! Maybe it's not worth it...
Okay- the bear thing is so true! Your use of words were perfect- I feel the same way. I went to the dr bc i am just sure there is something wrong with me...why am i so tired and grumpy?
I love the zingers- so darling. The post was perfect. I love when i can read your post and relate to it. You are such a great example!!!
How can you manage hibernation when you clearly have SO much going on?! You are amazing! I love reading your blog! You guys are so fun! Truly sorry about the bathroom. I hope it all works out well.
