This last weekend Amanda received her Patriarchal blessing. It was the most amazing experience. I am so grateful for the woman she is becoming. I am finding that I actually rely on her strength and that she is stronger than I am in so many areas. I am so blessed to have her as my daughter and friend. We have a wonderful relationship!! I was so overcome with gratitude and humility....I literally cried through the entire prayer!! It was so hard not to sniff or make a snort. I didn't want to distract from the blessing. I now know for when Nathan receives his to just take an ENTIRE box of tissues. I LOVE being a mom. I LOVE being a wife. I LOVE being a sister and sister-in-law. I LOVE being an Aunt. I LOVE being a daughter. I LOVE being a cousin. I LOVE being a friend. The blessings just continue to flow.....even though my life is hard and hurtful at times.
This week is also Derrick's baptism. Yet, another amazing blessing!! As we've been preparing for this day, we have had some trials. We have had some discouragement. We have ached in our hearts recently from some that we love deeply turning away from us. Yet, through the trials come these amazing blessings. We appreciate each other more and appreciate the simple things in our lives that bring us eternal joy.
I love how as Thanksgiving approaches now each year....Amanda can remember how thankful she is for her AMAZING patriachal blessing and Derrick can remember how thankful he is for his baptism and gift of the Holy Ghost. And, I am truly happy and overwhelmed with "Thankfulness". Thank you all for being my friends and loving me just for being me. You have influenced my life for good more than you realize!!

Let me be the first to share in your joy!! What an incredible experience for Amanda. I cried through Travis' P. Blessing and felt just like you... SO blessed!! You do have a wonderful family and some incredible events going on this week. We're so happy for you and send you our love (it's coming in the mail so look for it!!) Or maybe we'll just give it to you in person. =)
How thrilling! I can only imagine how wonderful it will be to hear a child's Patriarchal blessing. And, I'm sure hearing Amanda's blessing was amazing as Amanda is an amazing girl! We can't wait to be with you on Thanksgiving and for Derrick's baptism.
Julie what a great experience with Amanda. She is realy amazing and we feel lucky to call her family.
I wanted to add what the kids said about your new family picture. They all said he (meaning Derrick) looks just like them and fits perfect. We can't wait to meet him. We love you and are happy for your family.
I am so sorry that you have been having a hard week. I know that I have been trying this week to get back on track and just do what is most important. I always have a huge to-do list and we have been so sick and trying to move, for goodness sake! I do know that there are always BIG trials and obstacles right as we are making some of those very significant steps towards Heavenly Father. Baptism and patriarchal blessings definitely qualify as some of those. Keep strong and you will get through it. I know you and your faith is truly incredible.
Thanks for your love and friendship and your wonderful example to me. You are and always have been a source of inspiration to me. Hopefully, we can make it Friday.
Thanks for your 5s list. I love to read those.
Thanks for that posting! I love how humble and thankful you are, you're even thankful for the trials! You are a amazing woman and of course Amanda is following the footsteps of her greatest example. Love ya!
Thank you for this "thankful" post! It's prompted me to think of all of my blessings too. Like you, I am so grateful for wonderful family and friends...how would we ever make it through life without them!?!
I am so grateful that you were the oldest in the Ordyna family. I think you had to be...so that you could raise children to be great examples for all the nieces and nephews (fellow cousins)to come. I love that my chilren have great cousins to look up to and follow.
Oh Julie, now I need a box of tissues. Thanks for sharing your testimony! I love it!
